VESSEL RUNS AGROUND
A CARGO vessel ran aground Wednesday night at 350 meters east of Pier 1, Cebu City.
Cebu Coast Guard station commander Captain Rolando Punzalan said the captain and crew of LCT Metal Hawk are safe, said .
The vessel ran aground around midnight on Wednesday but the Coast Guard only learned about the incident past 6 a.m. yesterday.
With this, Punzalan said the Coast Guard issued a maritime violation receipt against the vessel for failing to immediately nform the authorities of the incident.
Based on initial investigation, Punzalan said the vessel was heading south from its anchorage area at Pier 6 to refuel but it ran aground due to miscalculation.

PEDICAB DRIVER NABBED
A 25-YEAR-OLD pedicab driver was arrested by roving tanods who caught him sniffing solvent in barangay Ermita, Cebu City.
Arjay Agravante, was walking home when three tanods caught him sniffing glue placed in plastic bag around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

EX-TANOD KILLED BY NEIGHBOR
A FORMER chief tanod was stabbed dead by his neighbor in barangay 6, Tuburan town, northern Cebu.
Dominador Donggallo succumbed to multiple stab wounds.
The suspect, Victoriano Capuyan, was arrested after his motorcycle ran out of control and crashed while trying to escape, police said.
Police said the two men bore grudges against each other.
Police said Donggallo went to the suspect’s house and confronted his neighbor for a still unknown reason around 6 p.m. last Tuesday.
The two men argued until Capuyan drew a knife and stabbed Donggallo, SPO4 Carlo Canseko of the Tuburan police said.
The suspect’s mother Lolita told police that Donggallo hit her and her son with a piece of wood during the fight.
PO1 Lamberto Lobiano Jr of Sogod police said Capuyan told them that he was trying to escape from someone who mauled him when he met the accident.
