Alphonsian Run 2012 fires off today in Lapu

Around 2,000 runners will answer today’s starting gun for the Alphonsian Run 2012 at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall grounds.

The event features 3-kilometer, 6k and 15k distances and is spearheaded by the Saint Alphonsius Catholic School Alumni Association Batch 1988 in partnership with the Lapu-Lapu City government.

Some of today’s participants will be students of Saint Alphonsius Catholic School.

The second Alphonsian Run will benefit the Sis. Restituta Roble Scholarship Foundation, which aims to help outstanding but less fortunate students.

Cash prizes and exciting gift certificates will be given to the top three winners in each category.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
