HEAT INDEX WATCH as of April 7, 2026: Cavite City hits 43ºC

MANILA, Philippines — The peak heat index on Tuesday, April 7 was recorded in Sangley Point, Cavite City which reached then danger level at 43ºC, according to the state weather bureau.
Cotabato City and Butuan City in Agusan del Norte likewise hit the danger level heat index at 42ºC.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, defines heat index as the “measure of the contribution that high humidity makes with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body’s ability to cool itself.”
Indices ranging from 42ºC and 51ºC are categorized under the danger level due to increased risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which could lead to heat stroke.
Temperatures have been expected to rise in the country now that the dry season has started after the end of “amihan” season last March 23. /gsg
