Caloocan holds trauma support training for social workers

MANILA, Philippines — Caloocan has given its social workers Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training in providing trauma support services.

According to city hall officials on Thursday evening, the CPD was conducted last October 23 to 25, through the City Social Welfare Development Department (CSWDD).

In a press release, officials said various strategies for rendering trauma-informed care were relayed to the participants.

The training included enhanced awareness of the nature and effects of trauma, development of trauma-informed practices, and improved interdisciplinary cooperation in handling trauma causes.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan thanked the CSWDD and the CPD participants for participating in the training, citing its impact on a comprehensive approach to addressing prevalent social issues.

“Batid po natin na hindi sapat na tinutugunan lang natin ang iba’t-ibang mga kaso ng abuso at trauma sa ating lungsod sa pamamagitan ng mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng batas,” Malapitan said in a statement.

(We know that merely responding to different cases of abuse and trauma in our city by strictly implementing the law is not enough.)

“Mahalaga din po na binibigyang-prayoridad ang mga programa na makakatulong na maiwasan ang ganitong mga pangyayari, kasama pa ang pagbibigay ng kalinga at suporta sa mga biktima,” he added.

(It is also crucial that we prioritize programs that will help lessen such cases and provide care and support to the victims.)
