Caloocan LGU hires more than 800 students under SPES
MANILA, Philippines — The Caloocan City government hired more than 800 students under the Special Program of the Employment of Students or SPES.
This was the project of the local government and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The special employment of the students will last for 20 days.
They will be assigned to work at different city agencies and departments starting on July 20.
More than half of their compensation will be shouldered by the City Government of Caloocan while the remainder will be covered by the DOLE.
The SPES is a youth employment-bridging program which aims to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers, according to DOLE.
The labor department said students or out-of-school youth (OSY) aged 15-30, with a passing general weighted average for students, and OSY certified by the local Social Welfare and Development Office are qualified for the program.— Kirsten Segui, INQUIRER.net trainee
