Cops who arrested Antipolo road rage suspect receive medal of merit

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has awarded Medalya ng Kagalingan (Medal of Merit) to eight Antipolo City Police Station personnel, who quickly responded in a shooting that ended in a car chase in Antipolo City on Sunday afternoon.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan (Medal of Merit) to eight Antipolo City Police Station personnel who quickly responded to a shooting that ended in a car chase in Antipolo City on Sunday afternoon.

The PNP said in a statement on Monday that its chief, Gen. Rommel Marbil, personally conferred the award to the following policemen:

  • Lieutenant  Orlando Santos
  • Chief Master Sergeant Rannel Cruz
  • Corporal Kaveen-John Vea
  • Corporal Joeban Abendaño
  • Corporal Niño Chavez
  • Patrolman Reylan De Chavez
  • Patrolman Michael Keith Panganiban
  • Patrolman John Marc Manahan

Earlier, Antipolo police chief Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo revealed that the police would file complaints of multiple frustrated homicides against the motorist who went on a shooting rampage during a melee on Marcos Highway in Sitio Calumpang.

Police earlier identified the suspect as alias “Kenneth,” who was collared by authorities at a Commission on Elections checkpoint.

“Siya po ay sasampahan ngayong araw na ito kumpleto na ang mga dokumento sasampahan ng multiple frustrated homicide and violation of BP (Batas Pambansa BLG) 881 or yung Omnibus Election Code,” Manongdo said in an interview over Radyo 630.

The police identified the three victims as alias Peter, Patrick, and Davis. They were rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

However, according to a Facebook post by Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares III on Sunday evening, the shooting incident also injured the suspect’s wife.
