Palawan cited as ‘Most Desirable Island’ by UK-based travel magazine

MANILA, Philippines — Among the world’s islands, Palawan has been recognized as the “Most Desirable Island” in the 21st Wanderlust Travel Awards.
In a statement posted on its website on Thursday, the Department of Tourism said that the award was given by Wanderlust travel magazine, one of the longest-running publications in the United Kingdom that has been at the forefront of sustainable travel.
Aside from Palawan’s win, the Philippine Tourism Board ranked sixth out of hundreds in the Wanderlust Sustainability Initiative Category for its Dive7 Program.
Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco expressed her gratitude to the magazine readers for their “love and support for the Philippines.”
“These awards reflect the efforts to revive the tourism industry that are well underway, especially because of the Marcos administration’s thrust towards prioritizing tourism development.
