Infrastructure damage due to Paeng exceeds P4.5 billion — NDRRMC
MANILA, Philippines — Infrastructure damage due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng has exceeded P4.5 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Monday.
The damage cost covers 800 destroyed infrastructures.
Regions with recorded damaged infrastructures are Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, and Cordillera Administrative Region.
Meanwhile, there are 34,943 ruined houses in 16 regions with a damage cost of P17.2 million.
Agricultural damage, on the other hand, was pegged at more than P3 million.
The Paeng death toll and injuries stood at 156 and 141, respectively.

Around 1.2 million families, equivalent to 4.6 million individuals, were affected by the tropical cyclone.
Of the figure, 27,001 households, or about 108,000 persons are staying in 951 evacuation centers.
To date, 522 cities and municipalities are in a state of calamity.
