More parts of Luzon placed under Signal no. 5 due to Karding

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5 was placed over more parts of Quezon province, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, and Pampanga in Luzon on Sunday evening due to Super Typhoon Karding.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 p.m. update that areas under Signal No. 5 will experience typhoon-force winds and face an extreme threat to life and property.

According to Pagasa, heavy to intense with at times torrential rainfall is expected in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Aurora, Rizal, and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands.

Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Benguet, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Pangasinan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, the central portion of Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, and Camarines Norte will experience moderate to heavy with at times intense rains.

Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and the rest of Calabarzon and Bicol Region will experience light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Gale warning No. 5 has been issued over the seaboard of Luzon. Sea conditions are risky for all types of sea vessels and mariners are advised to remain at the ports.
