MANILA, Philippines — A fire raged through a residential area at the corner of Valencia and Anonas Streets in Barangay 636 in Santa Mesa, Manila on Sunday night.

So far, there were no reports of injuries, but the Bureau of Fire Protection reported that some 200 houses had been engulfed by the flames, affecting 400 families.

According to the BFP, it raised the first alarm at 10:16 p.m, which it raised to the second alarm less than five minutes later at 10:20 p.m. BFP then raised the third alarm at 10:37 p.m.

The fire was declared under control at 11:50 p.m. and put out at 12:42 a.m.

Seventeen total fire trucks responded to the fire and two ambulances.

As of this writing, BFP estimated the cost of damage at P500,000.

The BFP said it had not determined how the fire started.
