Dengue cases in Metro Manila slightly rises, now at 3,975
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 3,975 cases of dengue were reported in Metro Manila from Jan. 1 to June 18, which is 1 percent higher than the previous year’s during the same period, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Tuesday.
Most of these cases were reported in the following cities:
- Quezon City: 729 (18%)
- Caloocan: 502 (13%)
- Manila: 501 (12%)
- Taguig: 472 (12%)
- Valenzuela: 444 (11%)
Meanwhile, the DOH noted a 16 percent increase in the number of dengue cases from May 22 to June 4, with 533 cases compared to 458 cases reported two weeks before — that is, from May 8 to 21.
The case fatality rate currently sits at 0.3 percent, totaling 13 deaths — four in February; two each in March, April, and June; and another three in May.
