Negros Occidental wants to vaccinate 666k residents vs COVID-19 in June
BACOLOD CITY––The Negros Occidental provincial government aims to vaccinate 666,363 residents against COVID-19 in June to hit 100 percent of its target population.
Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer, said Tuesday, May 24, that the 100-percent vaccination target comprises 80 percent of Negros Occidental’s 2,623,026 population or 2,098,420 residents.
Hitting 100 percent of their target will also mean de-escalating the alert levels of more local governments in the province, the majority of which are still under Alert Level 2.
The simultaneous massive vaccination in the province will be held every Thursday and Friday in the first three weeks of June and on Monday and Tuesday in the fourth week of June.
Tumimbang said the province has enough COVID-19 vaccines to hit its 100-percent target.
