Man stabbed to death in Manila
A 21-year-old man was chased by two knife-wielding men before he was stabbed to death on Sunday night in Manila. Renato Paladin, a resident of Building 19, Unit 312, Permanent Housing in Vitas, Tondo, was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors at Tondo Medical Center from multiple stab wounds.
Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section said the stabbing happened around 10 p.m. on Sunday, at the corner of Rodriguez and H. Lopez Streets in Tondo. Benitez said that witnesses in the area saw Paladin running away from two men who stabbed him after they caught up with him.
Bystanders tried to save the victim by bringing him to the nearest hospital but their efforts proved futile. The case investigator theorized that the attack could have been in retaliation over an old grudge. The body was taken to a funeral parlor for autopsy and safekeeping while follow-up operations are underway for the identification and arrest of the two men who killed the victim.—Jeannette I. Andrade
