NCR’s new COVID-19 cases lowest since 1st week of August — OCTA

The average number of new COVID cases in NCR for the previous week has decreased to over 1,900, the lowest since the week covering July 31 to Aug. 6.

MANILA, Philippines — The average number of new COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila for the previous week has decreased to over 1,900, the lowest since the week covering July 31 to August 6, OCTA Research said on Tuesday.

“The 7-day average in the NCR [National Capital Region] decreased to less than 1,933 [as of October 11]. This is the lowest since July 31 to August 6, before ECQ [enhanced community quarantine] was implemented in the region,” OCTA Research’s Guido David said over Twitter.

Meanwhile, the reproduction number in the region decreased to 0.61 from 0.74 in the previous week. In the entire country, the figure was at 0.69. Reproduction number is the average number of individuals being infected by one positive case.

The positivity rate, or the percentage of people found positive for coronavirus among those tested, was at 12 percent, according to David.

The average daily attack rate (ADAR), on the other hand, is at 13.65 per 100,000 people.

David said Metro Manila is currently classified as moderate risk for COVID-19.

Based on the COVID-19 tracker of the Department of Health, the capital region now has 20,284 active cases of the disease, while the entire country has 98,894 active cases.
