CITY OF MALOLOS — At least 35 barangays (villages) in five Bulacan towns were submerged in floodwater as the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Fabian dumped heavy rain on Friday (July 23), officials said.

Affected by the flood are residents in the villages of Paombong, Hagonoy, Guiguinto, Balagtas, and Marilao towns, according to the local disaster risk reduction and management office.

Some major roads in Barangay Sto. Nino and Sta. Monica in Hagonoy and in Barangay Lias in Marilao turned impassable to light vehicles because of the flood.

Heavy rainfall also raised the elevation of the Angat Dam to 185. 72 meters above sea level (masl) from 185.64 the previous day. The reservoir’s spilling mark is at 210 masl.
