PH receives another 1M doses of Sinovac vaccine

MANILA, Philippines — Another 1 million doses of CoronaVac, the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sinovac, were delivered to the Philippines on Wednesday.

The fresh batch of vaccines arrived past 8:00 a.m. via a Cebu Pacific flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. It was welcomed by vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.

This brings the total number of CoronaVac delivered to the Philippines to 13 million, one million doses donated by China and 12 million doses procured by the national government, the private sector and local government units.

All in all, the Philippines has received 21.7 million vaccines. More than 13 million of these were already administered, with 3.5 million persons now fully vaccinated.

Some 1.5 million more doses of CoronaVac are also expected to arrive in the country on Saturday, July 17, said the National Task Force against COVID-19.

The new batch of COVID-19 vaccines arrived after some local government units suspended administering first doses due to depleting stock of jabs.
