Some LGUs in NCR halt 1st dose vaccination due to depleting supply

MANILA, Philippines — At least seven local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila have either suspended their first dose vaccination for COVID-19 or have limited their vaccination scope due to the depleting stock of anti-coronavirus shots.

The LGUs posted separate announcements on their respective social media pages saying the national government has yet to deliver more vaccines to their localities.

Parañaque City

In Parañaque City, for instance, first dose vaccinations are temporarily suspended until the next arrival of vaccines. Meanwhile, all vaccination for second doses will proceed as scheduled.

Muntinlupa City

In an advisory dated Monday, July 5, the Muntinlupa LGU said there will be no schedule for first dose vaccination in the next two weeks, except for 56 individuals who have already received their first dose schedule for Tuesday, July 6.

The LGU said vaccines have been reserved for the second jabs of those due to receive it.

Malabon City

Meanwhile, Malabon City has temporarily stopped walk-ins for all its vaccination sites on Tuesday. However, first and second dose vaccinations will still be conducted at the Fishermall and at the mega vaccination site at Oreta Sports Complex.

The city government said only second doses of Sinovac Biotech vaccines will be administered to the remaining vaccination sites, such as Malabon Elementary School, Potrero Elementary School, Ninoy Aquino Elementary School, Epifanio delos Santos Elementary School, and Robinson’s Townmall.

Valenzuela City

Valenzuela City also announced that vaccination for first doses and the release of vaccination appointment letters were temporarily stopped on July 4.

The LGU said it will release appointment letters again once it receives more supply of vaccines.

It also assured that those due to receive their second shots can proceed to vaccination sites according to their schedule, as vaccines for the second jabs are already reserved.

Makati City

In a Facebook post, the Makati City LGU said that vaccination for first doses will be suspended for all priority categories on Tuesday.

Vaccination sites at Glorietta 2, Ayala Malls Circuit, San Lorenzo Place, Benigno Aquino National High School, and Palanan Elementary School will also be closed temporarily.

The Makati Coliseum and Ford Bonifacio Elementary School will remain open for those scheduled to receive their second dose.

Caloocan City

Vaccination for first doses in Caloocan City is likewise suspended on Tuesday. Only those due to receive their second dose will be given the jabs.

The LGU assured that vaccination for first doses will continue once the national government replenishes the vaccine supply in the city.

Vaccination for first doses in all vaccination sites in Pateros is suspended to ensure the availability of second doses, according to the LGU.

The LGU said that starting Tuesday, vaccination for second doses will only be conducted at the AMC Gym at Barangay San Roque.

The National Task Force against COVID-19 earlier appealed for understanding and patience for not always meeting the requests of local chief executives for more COVID-19 vaccine doses given the shortage in supply.
