Eastbound lane of Quezon Ave. to be closed for summer MMFF parade in April

MANILA, Philippines — The eastbound lane of Quezon Avenue will be closed on April 4 to make way for the Parade of Stars for the first summer edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Monday.

In a statement, MMDA chairman Danilo Lim said that the floats carrying the celebrities of the festival’s eight official entries will parade starting from Welcome Rotonda, and will end at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

Quezon City is the official host of the parade.

From 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 4, the eastbound section of Quezon Avenue, from Mabuhay Rotonda to Quezon Memorial Circle, will be closed to vehicular traffic.

An hour before the parade, the entire eastbound lane will be cleared and illegally parked vehicles will be towed, Lim said.

The westbound lane of Quezon Avenue, meanwhile, will remain open.

Because of the road closure, motorists were advised to take the following alternative  routes:

Vehicles towards Edsa/Quezon Memorial Circle — From Manila Area (España Blvd.), turn right at Blumentritt Rd., then left at Sto. Tomas St. or Matimyas St., right at E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave., left at Tomas Morato, right at Timog Ave. towards East Avenue to destination.

Vehicles towards Manila area — From Quezon Ave., turn right at D. Tuazon Street, left at Piy Margal St., left at Blumentritt Rd., then right at España Blvd. to destination.

Vehicles coming from Cubao towards Manila —  From Aurora Cubao, head straight to E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, turn left to Cordillera St., right to Sto. Tomas St., right to Bluementritt to Manila.

Vehicles coming from Manila towards Cubao — From España Blvd., turn right to Blumentritt Rd., left to Sto. Tomas, left to Cordillera St., right to E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue to destination.

Vehicles coming from Manila towards SM North Edsa — From Laong Laan Rd., right Maria Clara, left towards Maria Clara St., left to Araneta Avenue., right to Del Monte Ave., left to West River Side, straight to Pitmini, left to Judge Juan Luna, right to MH Del Pilar, left to Bansalangen to destination.

Earlier, the MMDA announced the official eight film entries in the upcoming festival.
