Cebuana, Freego still lead D-League

CEBUANA Lhuillier and Freego logged victories yesterday to keep their top spots in the standing in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup over at the Adamson University gym.

Down by five with 3:56 left in regulation, Cebuana Lhuillier turned to its defense and stunned PC Gilmore, 76-67. In contrast, Freego Jeans got off to a strong start and dealt Big Chill a crushing 78-46 defeat in the second game.

The Jeans Makers completely dominated the game with excellent shooting, tough defense and strong rebounding.

Forward Janus Lozada scored 20 points and guard Jerick Canada had 15 for Freego Jeans, which bounced back from a 62-78 loss to DUB Unlimited last week and improved to 6-1 (win-loss).

The Gems, on the ither hand, overhauled a big deficit by forcing the Wizards to three consecutive turnovers that led to the game-clinching 12-0 run.

Jai Reyes atoned for his erratic third-quarter performance by scoring eight points, including two three-pointers as Cebuana Lhuillier picked up its second straight win and sixth overall in seven games to stay on top of the standings. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
