The Supreme Court has already removed former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno from its website’s list of incumbent justices.

The removal happened even when Sereno has a pending Motion for Reconsideration asking the high court to reverse the decision that led to her ouster last month.

The high court, on May 11, 2018, granted the quo warranto petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida declaring Sereno as unqualified to sit as the top magistrate.

Also on May 11, the high court, after ordering the removal of Sereno, required the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) to start the nomination and screening process for the next chief justice.

However, the JBC has deferred any action on the matter until the decision has become final.

Last June 6, 2018, Sereno’s picture still appeared on the SC website, on the page about the incumbent justices. However, a day later, the photograph has been removed, and the post of Chief Justice was declared as vacant.

Meanwhile, on Wikipedia, Sereno was described as a “de facto” Chief Justice, meaning that she is occupying the position illegally.  /vvp
