QCPD: House employee shot during daughter’s birthday party

MANILA, Philippines — A 63-year-old employee of the House of Representatives died after being shot during his daughter’s birthday party on Sunday afternoon, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported Monday.

The QCPD said two unidentified suspects entered the party venue and shot the victim at close range.

“The victim was rushed to FEU-NRMF (Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation) but was later declared dead by the attending physician,” the police added.

Initial investigation showed that the suspects fired at the subdivision’s security guard before fleeing the scene. The QCPD did not disclose the guard’s condition.

Officers from Batasan Police Station 6 were deployed to the scene, while the QCPD officer-in-charge ordered the creation of a Special Investigation Team to identify and apprehend the suspects.

The QCPD said witnesses are being interviewed to help identify the suspects.
