SHS-Ateneo de Cebu pupil wins letter-writing contest
A GRADE 5 pupil of Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu in barangay Canduman, Mandaue City was the third prize winner in the 41st international letter writing competition for young people, the Philippine Postal Corp. in Central Visayas announced.
But Charlette Alessi F. Inao lagged behind her fellow Ateneans, fourth year student Cherilyn Patrocinio Sta. Ana of Ateneo de Naga University High School who won first place and Bianca Marie R. Ferrel, grade 5 pupil of Ateneo de Davao University, who placed second.
They received cash prizes of P15,000, P10,000 and P5,000 for first, second and third, plus a plaque and a stamp album each.
The competition, with the theme “Write a letter to an athlete or sports figure you admire to explain what the Olympic Games man to you,” aimed to develop young people’s skills in composition and to foster affection for letter writing.
