The Philippine National Police (PNP) National Headquarters has ramped up its efforts in monitoring updates from police regional offices for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
Shortly after polling precincts opened at 7 a.m. on Monday, PNP chief Dir. Gen. Oscar D. Albayalde showed to the press the operation of the National Elections Monitoring and Action Center (Nemac) at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
The Nemac is where all reports of election related-violence and violations of the gun and liquor bans from across the country are sent for consolidation.
As of 6 a.m. Monday, the Nemac has recorded a total of 42 incidents of suspected election-related violence. In these reported incidents, 33 people and injuring 26.
The PNP said the reported incidents were carried out by 126 suspects—82 of which remains unidentified while 29 have been identified. /muf
