Blaze sweeps through 2 barangays in QC; 500 families affected

About 500 families were affected by a fire that hit a crowded residential area that sits in two barangays in Quezon City Tuesday night.

The fire broke out at about 6 p.m. in the community that stretched from Barangay Botocan to Barangay Krus na Ligas.

In a report by Radyo Inquirer 990 AM on Wednesday, the blaze reached Task Force Bravo at 7:25 p.m.

Most of the houses in the affected area near the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) headquarters in Camp Karingal were made of light materials, the report said.

It was declared fire out at 12:23 a.m., Wednesday, by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of Quezon City.

BFP Fire Marshall Supt. Manuel Manuel, said the incident originated at the second floor of the house owned by Felipe Tabon, the report said.

The fire was caused by illegal connections, Manuel added.

Investigation showed that damage to property was estimated at about P2 million. No injuries and deaths were reported in the incident.

Many of the affected people are staying at the QCPD headquarters covered basketball court. /cbb
