College student dies in Legazpi City fire

LEGAZPI CITY – A 17-year-old college student died when a fire gutted a laundry shop near his boarding house in this city on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

The Albay police said in a report that initial investigation revealed the residents heard a loud explosion and saw thick smoke from the establishment in Barangay Ilawod at 4:20 a.m.

The report said that when the fire started, the victim was trapped inside the boarding house, located at the back portion of the shop.

FEATURED STORIES

The firefighters declared “fire out” at 5:52 a.m. and found the victim had died inside the neighboring building.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident.
