BACOLOD CITY–The police were looking into the killing of an 82-year-old physician who was found dead inside his car in Bago City, Negros Occidental with at least 13 stab wounds in the chest.
Investigators were looking into the possibility that the murder of Dr. Felix Valenzuela may be related to his business dealings.
“A person of interest being sought by the police is someone who has engaged in business with the doctor,” said Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, Bago City deputy police chief.
He declined to provide names pending investigation.
Valenzuela was a medical examiner at the Land Transportation Office at Robinsons Place in Bacolod City, about 30 kilometers from Bago.
A footage of a closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at Robinsons showed that Valenzuela left his clinic and entered the driver’s seat of his car at 5:13 p.m. on Wednesday.
Trigue said it was not known if someone was already inside his vehicle since they learned that the victim would not usually lock his car.
The car was found parked on the roadside in Barangay Calumangan on Thursday morning.
Concerned citizens informed the police that the vehicle had been parked along the highway since Wednesday night with its park lights on.
A policeman was sent to check only to find the body of Valenzuela slumped on the driver’s seat.
An initial police report said blood was noted on his shirt.
Based on the autopsy report, the victim succumbed to multiple deep penetration trauma, or tiny stab wounds in his heart, believed inflicted with an icepick.
Trigue said the person who killed Valenzuela, could have been known to him.
The police were still looking for possible CCTV footages along the doctor’s route to Bago to determine if someone was with him, or if he had picked up a passenger. /jpv
