A day before New Year’s eve, more than 67,000 passengers passed through seaports across the country, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
In its update report on Saturday afternoon, the PCG said they monitored 67,550 passengers in all ports nationwide, with the biggest portion coming from Central Visayas ports with 16,495 passengers.
The PCG also recorded 13,378 passengers in Southern Tagalog ports, followed by Northern Mindanao ports with 7,475 passengers, Bicol with 6,122 passengers, Southern Visayas with 5,980, and Palawan with 5,925.
Moreover, the PCG said 4,387 passengers were monitored in Western Visayas, 2,747 passengers in Southwestern Mindanao, 1,960 passengers in Metro Manila and Central Luzon, and 1,301 passengers in Northwestern Luzon.
More than 2,000 other passengers were also monitored at ports in Northwestern Luzon, Eastern Visayas, Southeastern Mindanao and Northeastern Luzon, the PCG said.
The PCG said it would continue monitoring the flow of passengers in all seaports in line with its “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos 2017,” or its operation plan for the holiday season. /jpv
