Trike drivers catch cell phone snatcher in Manila
Tricycle drivers came to a jeepney passenger’s rescue after a man snatched her cell phone on UN Avenue, Manila, on Tuesday morning.
After a brief chase, members of the Manila Tricycle Regulatory Office caught Chito Brioso, 32, whom they later turned over to the police.
Chief Insp. Elmer Oceo, officer in charge of the Paz police precinct, said that Brioso was charged with robbery in the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
Oceo’s report added that the victim, Mary Ann Oñas, 32, was in a passenger jeepney on Taft Avenue on Tuesday morning when Brioso snatched her phone worth P6,000.
He casually walked away followed by the victim who asked for help from tricycle drivers in the area.
Oñas’ phone was recovered from the suspect and returned to her. —Aie Balagtas See
