ALU-TUCP joins World Bank 41st council meeting
THE Associated Labor Unions-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP) represented by Arturo Regis Barrit participates in the 41st Global Environment Facility (GEF) NGO preparatory and consultation meetings of the World Bank in Washington D.C. held Nov. 6 to 10.
Forty representatives from GEF NGO network all over the world will attend the twin meetings.
The preparatory meeting will take place at the World Bank’s main complex building, while the consultation meeting is at the International Monetary Fund headquarter.
Barrit is a board member and chairman of Chamber 4 (trade unions and NGOs) of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The RSB is a body on biofuels certification that is recognized by the European Union.
The meeting will tackle the proposed GEF’s standards on environment and social safeguards and gender mainstreaming as well as the proposed GEF’s policy on Indigenous Peoples.
