mmda closure for mrt-7

Beginning on Monday, April 17, motorists taking Regalado Avenue in Quezon City will have to take alternate routes to reach their destination as construction starts on the first phase of the Metro Rail Transit 7. The Department of Transportation said in a recent advisory that because of the construction, one lane of Regalado Avenue would be closed to traffic from April 17 to June 16. Motorists coming from San Jose del Monte and going to Quezon Memorial Circle may take Quirino Highway and Commonwealth Avenue, or Belfast Street and Mindanao Avenue. Those coming from Quezon Memorial Circle and headed toward San Jose del Monte may take Quirino Highway and Commonwealth Avenue, or Bristol Street and Ascension Street. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has extended the suspension of the unified vehicular volume reduction program or number coding scheme until Monday next week. The agency also lifted its ban on provincial buses plying Edsa (from Timog Avenue to P. Tuazon Avenue) up to Monday out of consideration for commuters returning to Metro Manila after Holy Week. —Jovic Yee
