Holy Cross on display at Veritas chapel until Easter

/ 01:40 AM April 13, 2017

A relic of the True Cross on which Jesus Christ died will be open to veneration this Holy Week at Our Lady of Veritas chapel in Quezon City. In a statement, Church-run Radio Veritas said the Catholic faithful were invited to venerate the relic from April 10 until Easter Sunday. The relic is owned by Ambassador to the Holy See Mercy Tuazon. It is under the custody of Leandro Jose Tesorero and Bro. Lynch Kristopher Flores of the Work of the Saints Apostolate, a group of young lay faithful promoting holiness through devotion to the saints and their relics, as well as spiritual formation. According to Christian tradition, the cross on which Jesus Christ died disappeared after His crucifixion. It was rediscovered three centuries later in Jerusalem in 326 A.D. by Helena, mother of Constantine the Great, the first Roman emperor to convert to Christianity. The True Cross was identified by its miraculous healing power when a dying woman was cured when she touched it.  —Julie M. Aurelio
