Citigym Half Marathon Halloween Run fires off today in Lahug

ALL IS SET for the Citigym Half Marathon Halloween Run 2011 today at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The running event starts at 4 a.m. at the WCCHC lagoon area and will have 5k, 12k and 21k categories.

Around 1,600 runners are expected to join the race, some of them dressed in Halloween costumes.

According to race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts, everything is in place for the race.

Runners are expected to have a relaxed run, especially since Baring tapped the services of the South Road Properties (SRP) bikers to escort the leading runners in each category.

A total of P80,000 worth of cash prizes is at stake for winners. Proceeds of the race will go to the Fellowship for Organizing Endeavors, particularly their Rescuing Sexually Expoilted Children Under Eighteen project through JCI Zugbuana.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
