Summit bags opening leg title of Triathlon Team Championship Series

Dauis, Bohol – Team Summit ruled the 1st leg of the 3-leg Triathlon Team Championship Series yesterday at the Flushing Meadows Resort  and Playground.

The team, manned by Jose Merdino Lim, Kristian Cabahug, Joseph Larida and Loveleinell Casidsid, accumulated a total of 54 points.

At current second place was Tribo, which finished with a total points of 38. The team was composed of Emmanuel Comendador, Johnny Ferniz, Glenn Flores and Victor Galab Jr.

Placing third was Team NFYNEAT, which had 3 points. The team was comprised of King Lim, Anthony Regis, Robert Paul Martinez and Jebb Lynus Cane.

In the individual age-group categories, NoyNoy Jopson dominated the male elite category with a time of 2:20:19.

Jopson battled neck-to-neck in the swimming competition with Jebb Lynus Cane but pulled ahead of the University of San Carlos (USC) tanker in the bike competition.

Jopson, who was the top Filipino finisher in the Ironman World Championship in Kona Hawaii early this month, said he had to make sure he had a good lead in the bike because he was not so confident with his road.

Trailing Jopson at second and third place were Franklin Penalosa of Makati and Emmanuel Commander of Tagbilaran City.

Penalosa clocked 2:23.07 while Commander finished with a time of 2:35.03.

The distaff side was ruled by Aimee Dequina of Tagbilaran City, who crossed the finish line with a time of 3:14.42.

She was trailed by Dumaguete’s Ylang-Ylang Jordan, who placed second with a time of 3:14.53, and Cebu’s Loveleineil Casidsid at third place after clocking 3:23:00.

In the male 19-and-below, Paul Jumamil ruled the event with a time of 2:39:23. Second placer was Leo Delusa (3:00:20) and third placer was Cane (3:31:35).

Rosalito Albina dominated the male 20-29 after clocking 2:36:45. Placing second and third respectively were Cebu’s Ralph Martin Sios-e (2:38:55) and King Lim (2:38:55).

Lording over in the male 30-39 was Mandaue’s Jose Merdino Lim who had a time of 2:39:22. Finishing second was Jeremy Jordan (2:45:30) and third was Roy Wyndell Hervias (2:48:00).

The male 40-49 was topped by Adolfo Minoza who breasted the tape at 2:37:57. Settling for second and third were Allen Nitolloma (3:08:37) and Rino Zapico (3:09:01).

The male 50-above category only had one finisher—Simon Arizola who clocked 3:34:01.
