A senatorial candidate belonging to the “Partido Galing at Puso” led by Senator Grace Poe is confident that the party’s standard-bearer will receive “overwhelming support” from the electorate which will propel her to become a majority president in the upcoming elections in May.

Atty. Lorna Kapunan shared such prediction two days after the Supreme Court, in a 9-6 vote, allowed Poe to continue her quest for the presidency despite attacks on her citizenship and residency.

“We are confident that the people will decide overwhelmingly. We will have a president that will be supported overwhelmingly by votes of the people,” Kapunan said at Pandesal Forum in Kamuning Bakery on Thursday.

The lawyer said Poe’s victory at the high court is also “a victory for the Filipino people.”

“For her, it’s not her victory. It’s a victory for all those who believe in her. It’s a victory for foundlings. It’s a victory for those who did not know their birth parents. It’s a victory for the Filipino people,” she said.

If elected president, Kapunan said Poe will be a unifying president and that it is exemplified by the message being conveyed by their party.

“We will have a majority president that will not divide the country. We will have a candidate who will say ‘walang iwanan (no one will be left behind)’ whether friend or foe. When the ‘Partido Galing at Puso’ wins, you will see heart,” Kapunan said.

According to the Social Weather Stations survey in February, Kapunan is currently within the 30 to 34 rank among the 56 candidates vying for a seat in the Senate. RAM
