10 jeepney passengers hurt in Cebu road accident

CEBU CITY – Ten persons were hurt on Thursday morning when a passenger jeepney hit the center island and fell on its side at the South Coastal Road in Talisay City, southern Cebu.

 
Roland Bas, supervisor of the City of Talisay- Traffic Operation Development Authority (CT-TODA), said that based on initial information from their field personnel, the passenger utility jeepney (PUJ) was heading to Cebu City from Talisay about 6:25 a.m. when the driver , Ranilo Ababa, lost control of the steering wheel.

 
The PUJ hit the center island and fell on its side, injuring all 10 passengers on board.

 
Bas said four of the passengers were brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City. The other six were taken to the Talisay City District Hospital.

 
Bas said Ababa was brought to the police station for questioning. He also sustained bruises and wound on his hand. CDG
