2 dead as jeepney crashes into house in Pangasinan town

DAGUPAN CITY -– At least two persons died while 13 others were hurt when a passenger jeepney smashed into a house along the Domalandan Road in Lingayen, Pangasinan on Thursday, police said.

Jose Vargas, the jeepney driver, and passenger Villamor Garcia, 64, a resident of Bugallon town, died while being taken to the Lingayen District Hospital (LDH) here following the accident at 6 a.m., reports from the Pangasinan police office said.

Police said Vargas overtook a motorcycle but lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to swerve to the other lane and crash into the house of Carmelita Quinto.

The injured passengers were taken to the LDH, Jesus Nazarene Hospital, and the Sto. Niño de Casipit General Hospital here.
