DILG regional director shot, in critical condition in Laguna

A high-ranking Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) official is in critical condition after he was shot by still unidentified gunmen in Calamba City, Laguna Monday morning.

Renato Brion, regional director of DILG Calabarzon, was shot as he alighted from his car in front of the building of his office in Barangay (village) Parian around 7:30 a.m., according to a police report.

After shooting Brion, the assailants fled in an unknown direction.

Brion, who is a resident of New Manila, Quezon City, was rushed to Calamba Medical Center for treatment and is currently in critical condition.

As of posting, Calabarzon police are conducting dragnet operation.

Brion was the regional director of DILG National Capital Region at the time of the suspension of Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay in March.
