Iglesia ni Cristo protesters troop to Edsa shrine

Iglesia members gather at EDSA Shrine

It’s official: Iglesia Ni Cristo members protesting at the Department of Justice Compound in Manila will flock to Edsa Shrine in Ortigas.

INC made the announcement in the middle of the program at around 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

“Payapa tayong lilisan sa dakong ito,” the host said.

The crowd began shouting “Edsa” in unison.

Reports said around 500 INC protesters have been on Edsa since this afternoon.

Thousands of INC members flocked to the Department of Justice on Thursday, protesting Secretary Leila de Lima’s supposed meddling in the internal affairs of their church.

Calling for a separation of church and state, INC members said De Lima should focus on “more important issues” such as the botched Mamasapano operation instead of “prioritizing” the illegal detention case filed by dismissed INC minister Isaias Samson against the church leadership.
