1 dead, 3 hurt in Baguio road accident
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A man died while three others were hurt when a delivery van overshot a road and crashed in Suello Village here on Sunday morning, reports from a volunteer rescue group said.
Rafael Valencia, head of the volunteer rescue group 911 On Call, said the van driver, Bonifacio Pantalunan, 64, lost control of the wheel when the van’s brakes malfunctioned while cruising downhill at 8:20 a.m. The van overshot the road, tumbled and crashed near a golf course, he said.
Valencia said Pantalunan died in the crash while his passengers — Abraham Rivera, Edgar Velando and Christian Cruz — were taken to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
