MANILA Philippines – Concerned agencies in the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations, led by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, have been asked to speed up their efforts in the wake of the disaster brought by Typhoon “Pedring”, Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported.

Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa issued the directive in a meeting at the NDRRMC office in Camp Aguinaldo Tuesday, the report said.

Aside from Ochoa, also present were Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and Undersecretary Benito Ramos, NDRRMC executive director, the report said.

At least one person was reported killed as Pedring’s strong winds and heavy rains slammed into Luzon, including Metro Manila.
