Today, Nov. 28, is the 15th death anniversary of National Artist for Literature Nestor Vicente Madali Gonzalez, better known as N.V.M Gonzalez. A renowned fictionist, essayist, poet and teacher, he won numerous awards, including the First Commonwealth Literary Contest, the Republic Cultural Heritage Award and the Gawad CCP Para sa Sining. Gonzalez was conferred the title of National Artist in 1997. He died in 1999 at the age of 84. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
