MANILA, Philippines–Justice Secretary Leila De Lima on Wednesday said they are open to investigating the so-called Oplan SN or “Operation Plan Stop Nognog in 2016.”

“If there is a legitimate request (for us to investigate it) why not,” De Lima told reporters.

She said she could order the National Bureau of Investigation to do the probe. NBI is an attached agency of the DOJ.

Members of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) revealed that the Liberal Party is behind the plot to ruin the chances of Vice President Jejomar C. Binay in the 2016 presidential elections.

UNA interim secretary general lawyer JV Bautista said the supposed plot, dubbed “Oplan SN16 or Operation Plan Stop Nognog 2016,” is allegedly being masterminded by Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II.

The DOJ’s move to investigate Binay is her own decision, De Lima said following insinuations that the DOJs move is part of the plot.

“I am not the type who joins plot or conspiracies. The conduct of an investigation is my own decision,” De Lima said.

“I am not part of the Liberal Party. I am never a part of a political circle,” De Lima said, adding that she is only doing her mandate.
