Man killed in Caloocan fire
MANILA, Philippines—A 27-year-old man was killed when he got trapped in a burning house in Caloocan City past noon Saturday.
The authorities identified the fatality as Jason Dado.
Carlos Dado said his relative had been drinking before he went to bed in his house in Monumento the night before.
“He also works at night so he must have been sleeping soundly when the fire broke out,” Carlos Dadp said.
The 27-year-old’s house was among those that burned down in a fire that broke out at 12:25 p.m. on Calaanan Street.
Supt. Roel Jeremy Diaz, the city’s fire marshal, said the blaze, which reached Task Force Bravo before it was placed under control at 2:27 p.m., began on the second floor of the house of one Silvia Paclian.
Article continues after this advertisementDiaz said the fire spread quickly and destroyed around 100 houses made of light materials.
Article continues after this advertisementAround 200 families were left homeless by the blaze, the cause of which had yet to be determined.
The affected families were housed temporarily in a nearby covered court, officials said.
