MANILA, Philippines – The principal suspect in the pork barrel scam, Janet Lim-Napoles, and her husband Jaime have already answered the tax evasion case filed against them.

Lawyer Ian Encarnacion, counsel of the Napoles couple, told reporters that the counter-affidavit of Janet and Jaime is 12 pages and was subscribed in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The Department of Justice panel of prosecutors gave the Bureau of Internal Revenue until Dec. 17 to submit their reply.

In their counter affidavit, the couple insisted that there is no basis to file the complaint against them.

The government is running after P44.68-million unpaid taxes from Napoles and P16.43 million from her husband.
