1 killed, 26 injured in NLEX accident
MANILA, Philippines — One was killed while 26 others were injured when a passenger bus rammed a dump truck along the North Luzon Expressway in Bulacan Monday, police said.
Police Superintendent Helson Walin, Pulilan, Bulacan police chief, identified the fatality as Ording Sultan Ansmary, who died on the spot after sustaining multiple injuries from the accident.
Walin said a speeding Philippine Rabbit bus (CVJ 790) was traveling along the southbound lane of NLEX when it hit a dump truck (RJH 769) taking the same direction along Pulilan around 11:30 a.m.
“The Philippine Rabbit bus was running too fast that’s why it hit the dump truck,” Walin said in Filipino.
He said 26 other passengers were rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries on different parts of their bodies.
Meanwhile, NLEX traffic control room specialist Lizel uy said the accident caused a two-hour traffic build up before the area was cleared past lunch.
