MANILA, Philippines—Around P4 million worth of property was damaged in a fire that broke out in an establishment in Pasig City late Tuesday afternoon, firemen said.

According to FO3 Carlito Bañez, it took long for authorities to put out the fire, which broke out at 5:10 p.m. in an Eastern Petroleum warehouse on JV Miguel St., Barangay Bambang, because the establishment contained bunker fuel and other flammable chemicals.

He said firemen had to mix a type of substance in the hose water so that this would be more effective in putting out the blaze.

The fire ended up reaching the fifth alarm, and was put out at 7:20 p.m., or more than two hours after it broke out.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, as employees of the establishment said they only found out about the blaze when they saw smoke coming out of the warehouse, Bañez said.
