Superal makes history at ICTSI golf

/ 06:40 AM November 01, 2013

Princess Superal made history as she became the first amateur to hoist the crown in the ladies pro tour, completing her splendid three-day showing with a three-under 66 to win the title by eight strokes over Chihiro Ikeda in the ICTSI Camp John Hay Ladies Philippine Golf Tour at the John Hay Golf Club in Baguio yesterday.

Superal bested the packed field composed of the best amateur and pro talents in the country by submitting a three-day total of 17-under 190 to close out the five-stage ladies pro circuit sponsored by International Container Terminal Services, Inc.

After virtually wrapping up the crown with a splendid 14-under 124 after 36 holes for an eight-shot lead over Ikeda and fellow amateur Pauline del Rosario, Superal played it safe by settling for pars in the first seven holes but resumed what she did best all tournament long – hit birdies.

She knocked down her first for the day on the eighth, added another on No. 10 then gunned down her last on No. 12 – all from eight feet, while missing 11 birdie chances inside seven feet. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
