Binay: Don’t underestimate Umbra Kato
MANILA, Philippines—Vice President Jejomar Binay said the government should take seriously renegade Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) leader Ameril Umbra Kato, a report on 990AM Tuesday said.
“The government should not underestimate Umbra Kato’s force in Mindanao,” the report said quoting the vice president.
Umbra Kato, blamed for some of the country’s deadliest attacks in recent years, has formed his own group with hundreds of fighters to wage a war for a separate homeland.
Kato acted up after President Benigno Aquino III personally met with MILF chairman Murad Ebrahim in Tokyo, where they agreed to forge a peace agreement under the present administration.
Kato opposed the peace talks with the government.
