Mine worker fatally shot
A 44-year-old worker of Carmen Copper in Toledo City, midwestern Cebu was shot dead by unidentified gunmen Tuesday evening.
Police said the killing of Julito Mondelo Moneva, a resident of Awihao, Toledo City, could be work-related.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.
A witness told police that he was in a store past 11 p.m. when bursts of gunfire broke out. Cebu Daily News is withholding the witness’ name for security reasons.
The witness said two men fled the crime scene on a motorcyclea as Moneva sat by the roadside holding a .45 caliber pistol.
Moneva was taken to the Toledo City Hospital where he was declared dead by the attending doctor.
