MAN KILLED IN SRP MISHAP
AN 18-YEAR-OLD man driving a motorcycle was killed after he was sideswiped by a trailer truck in the South Road Properties (SRP) in barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, southern Cebu yesterday morning.
Jonathan Adesas, a resident of barangay Dumlog, Talisay City, suffered injuries in different parts of the body. He was taken to a hospital but did not make it alive.
Police said the trailer truck that hit Adesas was driven by Felino Gutang.
Police said Adesas was about to overtake a vehicle when he was hit by the trailer truck, throwing him off the motorcycle. Gutang was detained pending the filing of charges against him, police said. /CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

KOREAN CONSUL TO MEET POLICE
Article continues after this advertisementCONSUL Jeong Hyun Woo of the South Korean consulate in Cebu is expected to visit the police regional headquarters today to inquire about cases involving his compatriots.
Supt. Paul Labra, chief of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), said Jeong and the police will also discuss ways to improve the safety of Koreans in Central Visayas. Records at the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) showed that there were 92 crime cases involving Koreans since January this year. Last year, there were 111 recorded crimes. Most of the crimes recorded were snatching and robbery, and many of them took place between midnight to early morning as they came from recreational places.
The statistics covered not only cases where Koreans are victims, but also included those that were allegedly perpetrated by Koreans, said Labra. Koreans comprise a big bulk of foreign tourists and residents in Cebu City, where there are a number of schools offering English language classes. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
RETURN OF COPS SOUGHT
THE 130 policemen from Central Visayas who were sent to Zamboanga City to reinforce government troops are expected to return to their respective headquarters in time for this month’s barangay elections.
Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino, chief of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas, said they are still awaiting orders for the PRO-7 policemen’s return home. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
